Monday, November 25th, was a lovely 'at home' day. My shoulder hurt but I did my home PT. It felt good to get some of the home chores done in preparation for Thanksgiving company as well as some Relief Society items accomplished.
Tuesday, November 26th, I had my 6-month checkup with Greg Cowen, PA. I still have some sharp pains on occasion and was very happy when they did an X-ray. It showed some possible item that might need looked at. Dr. Sajadi was out of town until Tuesday, December 3rd. Greg will show him the X-ray then and they will call if I need an MRI. If they don't call, all is well. I can stop office PT when I feel it is not helping my arm to get stronger. I was given some exercises to strengthen the weakness I do still have.
The funny thing to Claude and me was the sign from the waiting area into the examining rooms. This entire building is for Bone and Joint Surgeons. See if you can see why this sign was amusing to us.
After a nice lunch at City BBQ, we headed home to do domestic chores. Claude gathered the last of his tomato harvest and we took down the netting that was over them. It would have amused others to see us trying to open it up on the patio and then fold it up for storage for next year's tomato crop. Wednesday, November 27th, was my one office PT this week. Their office was closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. It was a zoo trying to get everyone at least one PT visit this week.
Time for Thanksgiving fun to begin. Claude smoked a turkey during the day. The Marx's (Michael, Andie and Bailey) arrived in the afternoon. Hayden had returned from his trip to Poland to the film festival. He would not be with us. We did a nice video chat with him and he shared pictures of his adventures. This is a selfie he took with a statue of a donkey. Andie and I really liked this one. He had a good time. Learned a lot. Met some people. It was a good thing for him to be able to do.
We had a quiet evening with our brisket dinner and some television.Thursday, November 28th, was Thanksgiving Day. Claude was up at 6am to start smoking the turkey. We had brisket sandwiches for lunch. Then a turkey dinner in the evening.
In the middle of the day we did a video chat with Jake and Hayden. Our two bachelors. Jake was baking a turkey. Hayden was not sure what he would find to eat. Again, a very low-key day.
Bailey learned there was a Hunger Games marathon on. She made herself a lovely nest in Sandiland, turned on the moon lamp, spread out her snacks, and had a great time watching the movies she loves. I love how 'at home' our family feels when they visit.
Friday, November 29th, Andie and Michael left in the morning. We sent most of the turkey and brisket with them, some salad, rolls and the corn/black bean salad.
Now, it was time for a few days with just Bailey. For the last two years, we have had a Harry Potter marathon with her. This year we would repeat that tradition. Friday, we would get through the first four Harry Potter movies.
Saturday, November 30th, Saturday we watched two more movies. Then we went to the shed and Bailey helped us get all the boxes with Christmas decorations into the house and garage. Whew! Then we were off to Jimmy John's to get some lunch. This at least got us up and out of the houses. After lunch we watched the last two Harry Potter movies.
I have been watching a series on the Food Channel about baking using Harry Potter themes. The Weasley twins are the hosts. I recorded the first two and, on Thanksgiving day, the third one was broadcast and it recorded. We watched the first one on Wednesday evening with Andie. Saturday we watched the next two.
Sunday, December 1st, we had snow during the night. We had about an inch on the ground in the morning. This was our first snow fall of the season.
I awoke with a very, very sore shoulder. A lot of this is weather related. I decided I should take some Tylenol so my shoulder wouldn't hurt in church. I took two Tylenol and got my shower and ready for church. We had a few minutes before time to leave. As I sat with my Kindle, I realized I was extremely sleepy. This made no sense. I had a pretty good nights sleep. We left for church. As I sat through Sacrament meeting, I kept putting my head in my hand and I would drift off a bit. What in the world. After Sacrament meeting, I turned to Claude and asked if he would take me home. I was so very sleepy. He agreed and off we went. As we left the Church, I turned to Claude and said, "It feels like I do when I take Tylenol PM. Hmmmm... When we got home, I quickly said to Bailey, I have to get some sleep. Then I went to the bathroom and checked the bottle. Sure enough, the little bottle of Tylenol was the PM version. The big bottle was not. I had taken two Tylenol PM. No wonder I was so sleepy. I slept for a couple of hours.
When I got up, we got Bailey packed in the car and headed to LaGrange. I was a groggy, fuzzy-headed mess the rest of the day. When we got home, I spent the remainder of my day in my recliner where I was safe. Goodness!!
I did remember to take a coat of mine to the Bishop. It seems there is a homeless woman who needs a coat.
What an interesting start to December!!
Monday, December 2nd, I put the Christmas decorations around the inside of the house. Then I put the Christmas tree together. Yeah me. Lame arm and all.
Claude and I received an eMail from Jake. We had given him his Christmas present early. He had our gift and decided we should get it early as well. He had given us a hint about it on our family Facebook page by sharing a clip from the "Hunt for Red October". He watched it with Soot, his cat. Well, Soot slept while Jake watched the movie. The eMail from Jake explained he sent us an eCard. We were to open it and a video clip would be inside.
I called Claude and sat on the loveseat in the living room and opened the eCard. It was a Cameo.com card. The actor, Daniel Davis, had a greeting he recorded for us from Jake. Daniel Davis has a supporting role and "Hunt for Red October". He is the officer that helps get Alec Baldwin on the helicopter. He was also the butler in the television comedy "The Nanny". Most people know him for that role. Watching him talk to us was over-the-top fun. It turns out the Cameo.com is a service where you pay for a specific actor to record a greeting for someone. These greetings are usually a minute to two minutes long. Daniel Davis talked to us for 14 minutes!! Jake had explained we just finished driving Route 66 and we loved the movie "Hunt for Red October". These were topics from his history and he was happy to just share. The first six minutes were all about his riding Route 66 as a child with his parents. His father wanted to stop at Carlsbad Caverns along the way. The last portion of his video was about the filming of "The Hunt for Red October". At one point he must have looked at the time because he said, "On my, this is the longest one of these I have ever done!" Then he kept on talking. We both enjoyed this card so much. It was like having him sitting in our living room talking to us. After, we called Jake to thank him for such a wonderful gift. Truly unique and very much enjoyed.
I had office PT in the afternoon this time. Tina left after I arrived. She is the one who usually stretches my shoulder after I do the exercises. Hmmm. Who would stretch my shoulder? Alas, it was Art. He is the founder and part owner of the business. He is a delight but he uses lots of strength when he stretches you. I left with a well-stretched arm and a very tired arm.
Tuesday, December 3rd, I kept my phone at the ready all day in case Dr. Sajadi called. He did not. That must mean I am healing okay. Hallelujah!!
My day was spent stringing lights and then ribbon and then wood-bead garland on the tree. Then putting on ALL those ornaments. I was very proud of myself for doing all of this by myself. My arm got a workout but it did really well.
Claude got new tires on the Jeep. Then ran Walmart errands for us.
I went to the church at 2pm to get a quick tutorial on the new organ. Elizabeth Christensen and Katie Werner were there also. There is so much I don't know about organs. Never had real lessons. Elizabeth and Katie both have had lessons. This will be an adventure. I will go over sometime during the day and play with it.
In the evening, we decided to get tacos from Taco Bell for dinner and curl up in our recliners. It is very cold here. We had full days and stopping to be together and curl up was the right choice for this evening.
