My mother's father grew in his back yard in Starks, Louisiana, two Satsuma Orange trees. My memory of picking and eating fresh oranges is a great memory. A Satsuma Orange is a lot like a tangerine. No seeds and very easy to peel. The meat of the orange is juicy and sweet and delicious.
The other day while grocery shopping at Walmart, I found bags of little oranges and the bag said 'Satsuma'. I picked up a bag for eating enjoyment.
Everyday I have enjoyed two of these little gems. They are just yummy and I think of the old home place in the country, my mother's parents enjoying us little ones playing. So much goodness bundled in a juicy piece of fruit. I love the good moments in life.
