Sunday Jake had a meeting at a college in Louisville. He left before anyone else was awake. Nissa and Aubrey were on the road also in the morning after we all had biscuits and gravy for breakfast. That morning wore Claude and Raelyn out.
Katelyn lived with us one summer and worked as an intern at City Hall. One of her favorite things to do was cut the grass with Claude's tractor. He would do the outside edges and the really steep places. Then she would finished everything else. She loved riding the tractor and wanted that to be a part of Raelyn's experience in Kentucky. Claude drove it out of the garage and hooked up the trailer and they enjoyed rides around the lot we own next to our home. Katelyn drove Bailey around. Then Claude drove Bailey around. Bailey came out with a granola bar and some peanut butter crackers just in case someone needed a snack during their ride.
Katelyn rode in the trailer with Raelyn while Claude drove them around.
And we finished the rides with Katelyn driving Hayden around while he held Raelyn. Nissa found her a bucket hat to keep the sun off her skin and we threw a sheet over her arms and legs. Now, this is how we put a baby to sleep in the country in Kentucky.
Claude asked Bailey and Hayden if they wanted to drive the tractor. Bailey gave it a try.
Hayden was happy to climb all over the front porch railing and the flower beds.
My peonies were in bloom. There are pink and white ones. There were some gorgeous blossoms this year.
Got this candid shot of the Roper family enjoying some time on the back porch swing. Turns out there is a thing in Drew's family where they get professional pictures of the family taken and then the family falls apart. So they kind of shy away from that. I believe in lots of pictures so we have lots of good memories. So we got a few family pictures of them. Drew was happy about this.
Time for a walk to the creek. The entrance to our little development has a bridge over Eagle Creek and a dam on the creek. The water was very shallow this time so it was fun to walk across the stream and play in it. Andie, the Mini's, and the Ropers walked down to the creek. I took the opportunity to call and check on Papa. I took the picture as they left to walk down to the entry and the creek. The pictures at the creek were taken by Andie. I am grateful she did this for us. (Drew, Katelyn, Hayden, Andie, Bailey pushing Raelyn in the stroller)
Bailey told Andie she was searching for fossils.
Another family photo op for the Ropers.
Thank heaven for selfies in today's world. Andie and her Mini's.
Jake came back from Louisville right after dinner and had some barbecue chicken and spent the rest of the evening with us.
Bailey wanted to make some origami. Andie had purchased a book of instructions. And, as fortune would have it, one of the people in Japan gave us a nice package of origami paper as a gift. So we had paper in four different sizes. Bailey sat us all at the dining room table and trained us each to make at least one item.
Here is our precious bundle with her finger in the appropriate position for her to sleep. Andie actually managed to get a picture of me with Raelyn. I'm usually the one taking the pictures so this is a treasure of a picture for me.
And a couple more Hayden and Raelyn pictures.
Jake has an iPad and Bailey has and iPod. They were comparing notes and Jake was teaching Bailey something about a game I think.
A Grampa sandwich with his youngest grand and great grandmonsters.
And the Roper's left to head back to Michigan.
What a wonderful visit. The television was not turned on but one time at the end of our visit. We took real good advantage of the minutes we had together. Loved this family time on Memorial Day weekend.
