They strap you in a harness. To this they attach a rope with a connecting ball at the loose end. This connecting ball is placed in the track that runs over every place the kids can walk. They walk on everything from ropes to blocks of wood to wood boards. Sometimes they have ropes on the side they can hold as they walk across the air and sometimes there is no rope to hold on to. There are 3 levels and the kid can go as high as they want. If they slip, the harness catches them and they just get their footing again and go on. Fortunately for the older and younger of our group, there was a covered pavillion with a wood railing and a pond full of ducks and turtles for us to relax in while Aubrey & Paul played on the Sky Trail.
We then toured some of the exhibits. Hayden had always wanted to see the 'train garden' so Andie took him to locate it in the 'wagon extraordinaire'. Unfortunately for our little 'train guru' the garden was there and all set up but the train was not running. We kept coming back for Hayden to check and see if it was running yet, but it never did.
We saw many interesting animals. Some of these were an albino alligator (it is totally white) and a face off with an orangatan.
After visiting some animal exhibits it was time to cool off at the Splash Park. This is Aubrey enjoying one of the slides.
I even had some wonderful turtle encounters. In addition to the pond by the Sky Trail, one exhibit had a huge python like snake with this silly turtle walking all up and down and over its back. The snake did not seem to mind at all. And we found a turtle and managed to corral 3 of the grandmonsters to sit on it for a picture.
Our final stop was the carousel.
After the zoo, the mini-Marx's headed back to La Grange for quiet time. Claude and I did not. We took Paul and Aubrey into downtown Louisville. I'll continue that in Part 2 of Day 3.
