Saturday, August 8th was our last 5 hours of driving. We didn't bother to wake up really early. I did not take many pictures. Actually, I only took two pictures. They were when we entered Kentucky. The first is crossing the Ohio River. These second is the entering Kentucky sign.
We drove to Georgetown and there we stopped to do some errands before going home. The first was to pick up a prescription for Claude. He had received texts almost the entire time we were gone telling him he had a prescription ready for pickup. Unfortunately, when he went into CVS to get the prescription and a root beer for me to take to Papa, they had returned his prescription to the stock. They had to refill it again. They asked him to give them 20 minutes and they would have it ready.
We went to the nursing home. We had two snacks and a can of root beer Claude bought at CVS. I also had a book that Junie gave me to give to Papa. So we dropped that off at the nursing home for Papa. Then back to CVS to get the prescription. This time we went through the drive-thru pickup. There was a line and we considered that a blessing to give them the full 20 minutes to fill that prescription.
The last thing was to fill the car with gas before we got home. That done we made it to Sadieville.
After two weeks and lots of rain while we were gone, we had a healthy depth to our grass in our yard. The house looked good. A neighbor dropped off fresh veggies from her garden that afternoon for us. It was really, really good to be home.
We had a wonderful trip. It was something we would not have done had we not needed to go to a funeral. We tried very hard to be careful and not get the virus while traveling. Hopefully that will not happen. But it was great to see all our siblings and to have the opportunity to drive over the beautiful roads that are America. What a gorgeous country we live in. The trip was a blessing for us.
