Whew, that vacation post was a biggy! Now I will post a few other things that happened before and after the vacation color drive.
Saturday, October 1st, our Bailey and her boyfriend, Jake, attended Oldham County Homecoming. I was very amused that Bailey and her good friend went shopping earlier in the year at Goodwill. While there, Bailey found a dress she really liked that could be worn for Homecoming. She purchased the dress for about $8. Then she also found shoes. I believe Bailey's total outfit costs were about $15. She looked adorable. These are pictures I gathered from Andie, Bailey's mom. Such a fun time for our young lady.
Wednesday, October 5th, Claude finished the rock surface on the step on our patio. It is simply beautiful. Looks very natural. It will make me aware there is a step up but not in an obnoxious way.
Thursday, October 6th, in the evening we attended the Bluegrass Tomorrow 9th Annual Celebration. It was held at Castle & Key Distillery, Frankfort KY. This is an old abandoned distillery that was the Taylor Distilling Company. It has been refurbished so that a lot of the old buildings are visible and new has been added where needed. Very cool place. I drove by the old abandoned distillery years ago when Papa and I were out for a drive. There was big equipment definitely trying to do something with the property then. It was fun to see how it has transformed and is now a viable business with lovely grounds.
Our table mates for the evening. Claude on the left. Then the Mayor of Frankfort. Next the Mayor of Berea and his wife. Lastly a lady that works with Kentucky League of Cities and her hubby. She knew Claude from when he was president of KLC. KLC actually paid for the table. It was nice to see him honored. A lot of people attending were people Claude knew and worked with when he was Mayor of Sadieville and served on many boards Georgetown and Scott County. Nice to see old faces and hug friends. Each year there are two honorees at this banquet. Our Mayor, Tom Prather, was honored at this event. He received the Bluegrass Legacy Award. He has definitely served the public long enough to deserve this award.
Sunday, October 16th, I caught light shining on our little tree in the front yard. Perfect time to get a few pictures with fall colors in our own yard!
This is a picture a friend from Louisiana posted of the old church building. It doesn't even stand anymore. This is where I went to church from second grade when we moved to Shreveport until after Claude and I were married. A new building was built about that time and we attended at the new building. This building was sold to an insurance broker in the area. Eventually it was demolished. Many good memories in this building. Relief Society Bazaars, dances, my baptism, attending seminary, writing and publishing a newsletter for church in the steeple, and the list goes on. Nice to have this good picture. Now, I must go iron...again!!
