Slept till 7:30am. My sand fly bites were itching like crazy. We had breakfast in our room. We had food we didn't want to take on the plane. So, we had a yummy breakfast of diet coke, Mountain Dew and chips.
It was a cold, rainy day as we boarded our coach to the airport. John asked us if we had our gum boots!
Our flight left Christchurch at 2:35pm and included a hot meal. I took this picture as we flew over the South Pacific Ocean. Cool.
We arrived in Nadi, Fiji at 5:40pm. This was my view of Fiji from the plane. Fiji actually has many islands. This would be the big main island. The capital is in Suva on the opposite side of the island. By the time we went through customs, baggage claim and biosecurity, it was getting dark. We could see the effects of the sun setting in the colors of the sky. That is a pair of sneakers hanging on the wire over the street.
Sunset in Fiji.
We arrived at the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay. Bula!! This is the Fijian greeting. It is pronounced boo-lah. These three pictures are of the reception area at the Marriott.
This is a map of the Marriott. It is neat to see it sits on the lagoon.
We were given Room 4101. A golf cart took us to our room. When we opened the door, our room had Hibiscus flowers everywhere. The bed, the table, the tub, the television, everywhere.
We needed something to eat. We called room service and ordered spicy tamarind glazed chicken wings for Claude and a quinoa salad for me. We had a free day the next day. Claude saw a Fijian cooking class available for the next day at 1pm. He called the desk and signed us up. We settled in to this nice room for two nights.
