When one has this many ports of call on a cruise, one really appreciates a day at sea. We would have two of these on this trip and they each fell a good times. This first one was at a time when we are getting adjusted to the new time zone. The second day at sea would be our last on the cruise and allow us time to pack and be sure we were ready to return home a little bit rested.
Today the ship provided a lecture about Faberge. We would be going to St. Petersburg, Russia for two days on this cruise. This would prepare us for experiencing the Faberge eggs. The man in charge of the jewelry store on the ship would be the presenter in the huge theater on the ship called the Breakaway Lounge. After his presentation, we would follow him to the deck with the jewelry store and he would show us the actual Imperial Faberge eggs on the cruise ship. Here are a few pictures of a few of those eggs.
We very much enjoyed the presentation and loved seeing these gorgeous eggs. More about them on the St. Petersburg Day 1 post.
We pre-purchased tickets for the Cirque Dreams & Dinner Jungle Fantasy. We did this since it was a leisurely day at sea and we wouldn't have to hurry there after a day of shore excursion to see it. It was a great choice. Cirque du Soliel is something we always enjoy. We saw a huge performance at Rupp Arena in Lexington prior to this cruise. This was a smaller scale but just as over the top in costuming and just as amazing in the stunts performed. All on a ship that is cruising across the Baltic Sea. I am amazed. The entry to the Spiegel Tent had those fun mirrors in it. Had to take a picture. Look how long my legs are!!
You entered and found long tables radiating from the stage area. We were seated at one of these and served by a bird server. Bailey would have been over-the-top with these costumes.
Throughout dinner, which was served and consumed prior to the show, all types of fantastic creatures made appearances. We talked this bug into posing for a picture with us.
A man came out with a furry critter with two legs. The person in the costume had one hand outside the costume with the hand pointed so it appeared to be a head for the animal. They walked across part of the stage, paused while the critter made and effort to do something, then out rolled the egg you see between them. Very cute.
No pictures allowed of the show. It was excellent and we totally enjoyed this evening. We followed it up with a walk around one of the decks and managed to find a favorite view of the wake of the ship.
When we got back to our room, we added a bear to our growing zoo of towel animals.
And we enjoyed the sunset on the Baltic Sea from our balcony. What a great day at sea!
