A Little Too Much Water...

Oh, the rains came down and the floods came up.
The rains came down and the floods came up.
Oh the rains came down and the floods came up.
But the house on the hill stood firm!

Hallelujah!

We had big rains Wednesday, March 1st. Well, they came during the night and continued into Wednesday morning. When I looked out Wednesday morning this is what the creek looked like at the bottom of our hill. The trees in the middle of the creek are really the supposed to be on the creek bank.
And this is what the creek looked like from the east side of the bridge into our neighborhood. There is actually a little dam in this picture but you can't tell where it is. It is between the trees and is completely covered over with water.
And this is what the creek looked like from the west side of the bridge into our neighborhood. The first picture is the feeder creeks behind the old gauging station into Eagle Creek flooded and going into Eagle Creek. The second picture is a view down Eagle Creek on the west side of the bridge.
As a point of reference, this west side is usually just a tiny stream with grasses growing in it and low enough in places you can hop across dry land to the other side.

A friend posted this picture on her Facebook page. This is a major intersection about 7 miles from our home. I usually drive this road coming home on Wednesday nights from teaching Institute. This Wednesday night I tried thinking it would be clear by 9:30pm. Alas, I got right to the intersection and it was closed. I had to turn around and go back to Georgetown to get another road to take me to I-75.
Nothing like a little weather action to liven up our lives. No one injured or hurt in any of the damage in our area.
