The First Two Dates of Christmas...

We are going to try it again. Last year we had the 12 Dates of Christmas. We will see if we can get 12 dates this December.

Tuesday, November 28th, was the first two of these dates. Yes, we did two dates in one day. Both were in Louisville. So, we did one in the afternoon and the other in the evening so that we only drove to Louisville once. We are clever that way!

In the afternoon, we went to Louisville MegaCaverns to see Lights Under Louisville. These caverns were made when limestone was mined. There are lots of them and they are HUGE. The floors have been filled and you can take a tour of them anytime. Some are used for zip-lining. Some are used by businesses who can appreciate climate controlled environments for storage. Some are used to store rock salt for the winters in Louisville. Around Thanksgiving and Christmas, some of them are set up with lights and you pay per car and drive your car though. It takes about 30 minutes. We went last year. This year was a huge upgrade in light displays. We were the only ones driving through on a Tuesday afternoon. Way cool!!
We wanted to have dinner before going into downtown Louisville for our next date. There is a Wendy's when you turn on the road to take to down to the caverns. However, this year we noted they built a City BBQ next to Wendy's. We are always up for City BBQ. We dined there and visited for a bit before heading into Louisville.

Our second date was to see Cirque Musica. Cirque is another thing we are always down for. This time we would be at the Louisville Palace. This is a much smaller venue that many Cirque performances which are often at large arenas. The beauty of a Cirque performance in a venue like Louisville Palace is there is less space so few performers at the same time. In the big venues, you often are not sure where to focus your attention. Like a three-ring circus, there are multiple things going on and you need to pick one to focus on. In the smaller venues, that is not the case. The opening had all the performers and lots of action. Then it settled into the show based on a story line. This allowed for one performance at a time in the center of the stage. The other things I loved about this is it is totally family friendly. Lots of children enjoyed this show and joined in with the audience participation. It was a delightful evening.

We saw all the usual types of Cirque things from aerial acrobatics, that-hurts-just-watching contortionists, balancing on tops of balls and chairs, aerial antics while hanging from your hair, jumping rope while the object you are on spins round and round, juggling, hoop adventures with one hoop and then with LOTS of hula hoops and the list goes on. Another good evening with Cirque. It was punctuated at two points with snow falling on us from the ceiling. Loved that.

Wednesday, November 29th, we had a day at home. I managed to get the inside of our home decorated except the Christmas tree. That would take three nights to get it up.

Thursday, November 30th, we drove Sis. Toulassi to Cincinnati to take her citizenship test. She is Togo in Africa. She has living here 17 years. We finished that drive with a stop at the Guitar Store to get things for Claude's guitar. Then we had a big meal-O-the-day at Chipotle. Yum.
