So..."What is a good little Mormon girl posting about a 'vineyard' for?" Well, once again my hubby's retirement adventures took us on another adventure. One of the groups he participates with is Bluegrass Tomorrow. Every year they hold a Celebration of the Bluegrass. They hold these in amazing places in the Kentucky Bluegrass area. Last year I posted of this event in a horse stable in Paris, Kentucky. This year it was held at Equus Run Vineyards. Just so you can see how beautiful Kentucky is, here is a picture of our drive into Equus Run Vineyards. Gotta love it!
The gentleman who set up the arrangements for the event shared the history of this vineyard. A lady who was an executive with IBM purchased this property. She was working all week in Texas and flying home on the weekends. Every weekend she filled with building this amazing Vineyard. She made an outdoor terraced theater area and every summer they hold the Summer Concert Series with regional and national musicians participating. It is a beautiful property with a big barn built in it for events. This barn is where we would have an elegant dinner with recognition of those who help Bluegrass Tomorrow and an auction to raise money for Bluegrass Tomorrow.
Kentucky League of Cities purchased a table and we sat with them this year. Good company and the meal was full of local fall vegetables.
There was wine tasting for those who chose to participate. Claude and I surprised the man when we used our two drink tickets to get two bottles of water. Imagine! One gets to smile now. It was a lovely evening. I'm truly a plain little girl and am always happy to get back home to my jeans and bare feet. But it is nice to enjoy that scale of an event every once and a while.
