Medical Needed as We Gracefully Age...

Wednesday, June 21st, I needed to take in for his next INR test. This is a test of his blood to be sure how thick it is since he takes a blood thinning medication. It had been a month since the previous test. It should give a reading between 2 and 3. The lower the number the thicker his blood and the concern for a stroke or heart attack. The higher the number the thinner his blood and the concern for bleeding if he falls or cuts himself.

On May 10th his reading was 1.9. That was an acceptable reading and we went home happy.

On June 21st the reading was 4.3. Cause for concern. The dosage was adjusted and we were to return in one week.

On June 28th the reading was 5.1. Greater cause for concern. A whackadoodle adjustment was made to his dosage which was something different for a dosage each day of the week. I changed all his pill box for this change. We were to return in one week.

We went back July 5th and the reading was 1.8. Back in a safer range. However, I now keep that whackadoodle adjustment for a month before we return. Goodness.

Then there is Claude...

Claude went to his Miracle Ear guy for a check on his hearing aids. They think he needs to buy new ones. No trade in value on the old ones. They are perfectly good. It is just felt he needs the newer technology, yatta, yatta, yatta. I honestly don't know what Claude with do. This is not an inexpensive change and he has only been wearing the ones he has for maybe 3 years. Ugh!!!

I continue to plod along, no doctor visits, Thank Heaven!!
