Tuesday, June 20th, Claude was to have an interview for a new City Attorney for Sadieville. He asked J D Chaney, Deputy Executive Director of Kentucky League of Cities to come and sit in on the interview with him. J D was happy to do that and Claude sweetened the offer with smoked brisket for lunch at our home before the interview. J D loves, loves, loves smoked brisket. He cheerfully accepted.
Claude smoked his brisket and made potato salad. I set a very nice table. We were ready to entertain. Then the phone call came.
J D said he was very sick and apologized profusely to Claude. Claude and I sat down to a very nice lunch for just the two of us. Claude set aside some brisket to take to J D at a meeting they would both be at later in the week.
We ended this day with a trip to the Louisville Temple. This was the night we calendared a month before. When we arrived at the temple a dear friend walked by our car and stopped to say hello. He asked if we had come to go to Victoria's first time in the temple. Victoria is his granddaughter. Victoria was leaving for her mission in a few days. We didn't arrange the date for that but we did feel that night was free for us to attend because a loving Heavenly Father knew what would happen. It was very nice to sit in the temple with this beautiful young lady and her family. Such a tender experience.
It was a lovely day.
