That's right. We got home from South Africa Wednesday about noon. We were up on Thursday and back to our old routine because Friday and Saturday we needed to be in LaGrange to support our youngest grandmonsters.
Friday morning I spent with Papa. Took him for a car ride. Then we drove to LaGrange Friday late afternoon. Hayden is in his first year of high school. He is continuing with band and that means he is required to play in the marching band and perform at all home football games with the Oldham County High School band. This would be the first home game of this season. It would be Hayden's first time to march during the half-time of a football game.
When Claude and I arrived and parked the Jeep, we saw Andie, our daughter, and Bailey, our grandmonster, helping to push the Graeter's Ice Cream truck over to the football field. We bought out tickets and went into the football stadium. We decided we should buy t-shirt in the school colors. We each purchased a long-sleeved t-shirt for future events. Then we found seats in the stands. Michael would arrive later. Andie and Bailey would join us at half-time.
Here are pictures of Hayden in the Oldham County High School Band. He is on the right end on the top row of the first picture. This is a very large band. Just look at the middle picture where they are all at the end of the football field getting ready for the half-time show. Lots of kids in this band.
The band was excellent. So fun to watch them move around on the field. That was my favorite part of football games when Papa would watch them and I was a child. They must have been college games he was watching. It amazes me how they learn these things. Hayden has the third quarter to get something to eat and visit with family. He was happy we were all there to support him.
During the first half of the game Bailey was helping with the ice cream cart to get some service hours for her Beta Club requirements. Andie was helping because the funds raised from the sale of this ice cream goes to the band. At one point I looked at Andie and realized a napkin flew out of her hand and onto the football field. Yike! Here is a picture of Claude hugging Bailey at the ice cream cart when he went to get us ice cream. Andie is under the umbrella with her back to me in a blue t-shirt that has OC on the back.
After the game we went to the Marx home and spent the night.
Saturday morning we were up to support Bailey at her cross country meet. Before the race the girls always form a circle and have a little prayer. Bailey is on the opposite side of the circle. There is a man behind her in the distance. She is wearing light blue knee socks. Bailey enjoys cross country a lot and it is fun to watch her energy go to do good things.
It turns out the meet was only about an hour away from a store Andie loves. It is in Madison, Indiana. It is the Galena Garlic Company. They sell all kinds of vinegar flavors and olive oil flavors. To the discerning cook, this store is magic. One could spend hours in there. There are little sample cups and my dear hubby tried a lot of samples. He chose a variety of flavors to purchase and will probably drive all the way back there again.
Claude then drove home quickly so I could still get to the nursing home to sit with Papa. It was good to support the kids and to have Claude find a new place to shop.
