We arrived before the Drysdale family. We went to the seats Lynette told us they wanted to sit in and blocked out a row of seats to accommodate our group. I love these seats in the Dee Center because they are purple!!
Shannon was one happy young lady.
Some of the kids wore leis or strings of beads around their necks.
The graduation program was really nice. The salutatorian had so much facial hair it was hard for me to believe he was only a senior. He also owns his own software company.
To receive their diplomas, the boys enter one door and the girls enter another door, then they stood for their portrait holding a diploma cover, then get in line to have their name announced as they stood on a mark so their picture could be taken again of them standing there, then they shook hands with the school staff and class officers as they got their diploma cover and returned to their seats. Very well ordered with lots of teaching staff to be sure every one went where they were to go when they were to be there. In picture Shannon is standing while they read her name. She has on sneakers.
I only remember two kids doing a flip as their name was read. There was also two times a firecracker type thing popped off and confetti sprayed through the air. A few kids decorated the tops of their caps.
One of my favorite pictures was the quick one I took of Brian with his arm around Lynette.
Soon it was complete. Caps flew up in the air. The recessional was played and we all headed outside where some pictures were taken.
We were to all meet at 6pm at El Matador for dinner as a family. In the meantime, Bonnie had plans for me to sew something for her. We headed to the fabric store to get material and lace.
We enjoyed dinner that evening. The food was excellent and the portions were HUGE. I ordered 2 cheese enchiladas, 2 large shrimp and beans. I'll just say that each shrimp was the size of a saucer. They could have been the meal in and of themselves. After we all downed our meal, Lynette asked who would like fried ice cream for dessert. Thomas, Daniel and Katelyn each ordered fried ice cream. This was a dinner plate sized portion. Katelyn, though very full, won this food fest and finished her plate before everyone else. I only had my cell phone to record this feat.
On the way home we stopped in Brigham City to see the construction of the new Brigham City Temple. This is the city Katelyn was born in and she has a special affection for this particular temple.
Now it was time to point that rental car to Thatcher again. It was a fun, family-filled day.
