Freedom...

What do we do in the summertime? Go at least once to a minor league baseball game. This year we headed north on Friday, June 2nd, to watch the Florence Freedom.

We were give this program when we entered the stadium. If you attend plays, then you will get the name of this program. I found it very amusing.
Our first bit of business was to find dinner. I do believe it is one of the main reasons we go to the ball park. However, one can get as good a meal elsewhere for a whale of a lot less. The great thing about it is really eating outside at the ball park. I opted for a BBQ sandwich. It was yummy.

In Florence, Kentucky there is a water tower and it is painted red and white. It originally had Florence Mall painted on the side since it was at the location of the Florence Mall. There was some kind of to do over that. We weren't living in Kentucky when it happened. The end result was instead of painting the entire water tower again, a very clever Mayor said, "Let's just change the 'Mall' to 'Ya'll'. So this red and white water tower has Florence Ya'll on the side of it now. It has become a neat landmark of sorts. The Florence Freedom have started to use it for their mascot. This is the mascot between innings rounding the bases tossing out t-shirts to the crowd.
There was one pitcher that was just interesting to watch. He was at the end of the game and I don't know that I have ever seen a pitcher in baseball get so low to the ground when he threw the ball.

The Florence Freedom lost the game. But that was okay. We still enjoyed staying for the fireworks after the game was over. Always enjoy a round of fireworks. Makes me miss the fireworks in Japan. Great evening with my hubby.
