July 5th and 6th, 2013 the Eagle Creek behind our home flooded. It is always interesting to watch and be amazed at the power of nature. It is also always nice to sit at the top of a big hill and knowing the water will not get to our home.
This was the view from our deck on Friday, July 5th. The places to note are:
- Between the two trees on the left front. You can see (behind the tree stump with the mail box on top) brown water in front of trees. The trees are actually the edge of the creek and the water should not be visible at all but well below the creek bank behind those trees.
- The trees in the water on the far right of the picture. Those trees should also be along the shore and not in the middle of the water.
These pictures I took Saturday morning, July 6th as I returned from Georgetown. They were taken at the bridge into Eagle Bend. The first picture is to the left of the bridge as you enter Eagle Bend. The second is the land behind the home on the right side of the bridge. The third is where the dam should be in Eagle Creek. You can't even see the dam as the water rushes over it.
By Sunday the water was back down to a more managable level. The wonder that is nature.
