Run Hayden, Run...

Okay, we just ate at Bubba Gumps in Gatlinburg, Tennessee which explains this lovely title for this particular Blog entry.

Friday, July 12th Claude and I made our way to LaGrange. That night we would watch the Mini's so Andie and Michael could have a date night. It also afforded us a good night's rest and not having to get up at O'Dark 30 to get to LaGrange way early Saturday morning.

Saturday, July 13th was the finale to Hayden's running class he has been attending. The finale was the opportunity to run in a 5K with other runners in a run that started and ended in Westport, Kentucky along the banks of the Ohio River. Michael would run with his son. It was great fun to there with the Marx family for this epic moment.
Please note their matching t-shirts. These were a gift from Claude and me for Christmas one year. Hayden's says 'Little Guy' and Michael's says 'Big Guy'.  Gave me a happy moment to see them in these cute shirts.

These are some of my favorite pictures of the event from warming up to crossing the finish line to warm down.

We are so proud of Hayden for working so hard and being able to finish his run in record time. He and Michael crossed that finish line several minutes faster than his best time when they practiced on the track at the high school.  The route run in Westport was not a flat surface. It started with a run up a hill. Michael was particularly impressed with a burst of running energy Hayden exhibited at the very end of their run. Hayden surprised and delighted his father with that little move. I would say they well earned their t-shirts after their run.
