Fall Break for the Mini's...

October 27th - 29th we took the Mini's for a few days of fun. You can't help but feel good about your ability to care for these little nuggets when you start your visit with them falling asleep in the back seat on the way to Keeneland. Oh My!!! That means we are either great at grand-parenting or we are just the most boring grandparents ever. Sure makes the drive somewhere a lot quieter.
After picking the Mini's up, Friday's adventure was going to Keeneland in Lexington to see the races. Claude won four tickets to Keeneland at Hayden's Boy Scout spaghetti dinner fund raiser. We would use them with the Mini's. We started our visit by getting lunch and sitting and going over the racing book. Wanted them to have a little knowledge of how the book works so they could have fun picking who they thought would win a race. A little knowledge is all we can give because we really only know the basics ourselves. The Mini's ate well and learned well and we were off to find our seats.
Claude upgraded our general admission seating to sitting in the grandstand. Nice seats that left us out in the open air but covered from the sun.
Between some of the races, we would go to the paddocks where they warm the horses up. It is nice to see the horses and then pick who you think will win or pick your winner and see if you think you made a good choice. This is Claude and Bailey watching the horses warm up.
We watched several races. We went back to the eating places and had ice cream at one point. Then we watched a couple more races. The Mini's were getting ready to try something else. So we told them they should each pick one horse and tell us if they thought is would come in win, place or show. Then Claude would place a $2 wager on their choice and that would be the final race we would watch. Great fun for the Mini's. No one's horse won anything so great lesson about loosing money.

On our way back to Sadieville we stopped at the nursing home to pay Papa a quick visit. He was so very happy to see these kids.
That evening Bailey pulled out a project she brought to work on. It was a crystal making kit. We got it all set up and it is STILL on my kitchen counter. Maybe over Christmas we'll figure out what to do with them. Geez!
Saturday's big outing was lunch at Blaze Pizza and then to the Lexington Opera House to watch the Wizard of Oz. The Mini's stated that was fun and they would do that again.
Sunday afternoon we took them home. Well, I drove them to the Outlet Mall in Simpsonville and Andie met us there. Claude wanted to take them to Johnny Rocket's. The sad part was, Claude had something come up and he couldn't go to Johnny Rocket's with us. So, we had a nice dinner together and sent him numerous pictures so he know the Mini's enjoyed that as well. We also walked over to the chocolate store and let them pick out some chocolates for dessert.

It was a good Fall Break for the Mini's. Andie and Michael got a little time to themselves. And Claude and I made a few more memories with the Mini's. I call that a Win-Win!!
