KLC Conference 2017...

Claude finished his year as President of Kentucky League of Cities in October at the Annual KLC Conference at the Convention Center in Covington, Kentucky.

This always falls over his birthday. This year it was made extra special by his receiving a lovely cake and the 1st Vice President (with very blond hair) singing "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" in her very best Marilyn Monroe style. Everyone was still chuckling about it when I arrived on Thursday. No video could be found so only a picture. Would truly have loved seeing that and how my dear Hubby reacted.
Claude asked that they have a service project this year and prepare boxes of food for needy families. It was a tremendous success.
Thursday evening, October 5th, was the big banquet. Claude gave his farewell thoughts and new officers were sworn in with that famous Kentucky Oath of Office that ends with never fighting a duel. Claude was funny, as usual, but also said some very tender things about his opportunity to serve as President. He logged over 9,000 miles in his term as President visiting cities across Kentucky. In true Claude fashion, he did a bang-up-good-job!
This year he was given the Presidential Suite to stay in during the entire conference. He sent me pictures the first day of a grand piano in a room with sofas and chairs. Then he sent a picture of what appeared to be another room with sofas and chairs. I asked him if they were of the lobby of the hotel. Nope. They were the Presidential Suite. What a treat! You entered the room and there was a mirrored wall with the grand piano in front. To the left was a formal dining room. There was a small kitchen and this enormous living room with sliding glass doors along the patio side. The windows faced the Ohio River and a view of the Cincinnati skyline. It was stunning during the day but I particularly love this view I took after the banquet Thursday evening.
I slept in Friday morning while Claude attended a few other meetings. Then we would be off for a birthday gift for Claude's 68th birthday. See my next post please.
