The Marx family arrived Wednesday evening. Claude smoked a brisket on his new fangled grill. First of all the brisket was too small. Second, controlling the temperature in the new grill is very, very different than his electric smoker. The new grill uses charcoal and is, basically, a ceramic egg. So, he got one side a little charred. We had enough for most of us to have one meal. None for sandwiches the rest of Thanksgiving weekend. Oh well. It was good and Claude learned a lot about this new grill that can also smoke foods.
The Mini's are getting older so they sleep in a little longer. This is a good thing. We made turkeys out of frozen waffles for breakfast. Then we settled in for a relaxing morning.
I purchased some little wooden frames for the Mini's to paint. Then they picked out a picture of themselves they like. Hayden had a lot on his phone and they each chose one of them with their cats. I would print the pictures, cut them to fit the frames and then glue them to the frames. We sent this set to Bonnie, Claude's mom, for Christmas and I have another set for them to paint Sunday and we'll wrap it for Papa.
Claude smoked a turkey in the new grill and it turned out a lot better. Dare I say it was Yummy!! In the afternoon I picked up Papa from the nursing home and he visited with us in the afternoon and ate dinner. Then I took him back to the nursing home in the evening.
Friday was another lazy day. I did give Bailey and Andie each a haircut. But you can tell by the picture we just had a very lazy day.
The Marx family would return home on Saturday. Then on Tuesday I found this on my hutch. Miss Bailey always finds things to play with in our home. Usually you are just happy she is enjoying herself and you don't really know all that she is up to. You really don't have to worry that she will mess something up. Then after she leaves you will always find something that gives you a grin and a happy heart. She played with all the salt and pepper shakers and this is their arrangement. Love it.So it was a very nice and very quiet Thanksgiving. In two days the Marx family will be back and we'll enjoy a quiet Christmas with them and Papa.
