The best way to share this experience is with pictures. Here goes...
The kids all come to the track around the football field for Oldham County High School. They come by grade level at different times through the day. Bailey arrived with her class in her own uninhibited way.
Each class makes sure they get a class photo. Bailey is on the back row the second from the right side.
They are led in some warm up exercises before they start the run. Bailey is by the fence holding her foot behind her. Please note that behind her with the Batman cape is her teacher.
Then they are off. Bailey started her run in this picture and then realized her friend was not there.
So, in typical Bailey style, she runs against the crowd to get by her friend.
Michael wore his Bazinga socks we gave him for Christmas. Such a good son-in-law! I sent this picture to Claude from my phone. He was impressed.
Parents volunteer to write a hash mark on the back of each child's t-shirt for each lap they run. Michael is marking the back of Bailey's shirt.
Michael was fascinated with this kid's cast. He asked if he could sign it. The kid said sure. They probably know each other. The thing that fascinated Michael was something you might not notice at first glance. The boy had his watch on over his cast. Cute, very cute.
These next two pictures are the teachers from the front and the back. Some chose to dress like superheros. How fun is that for the kids. Our girl finished her final race. She poured water over her head. Then she had to put on her coat to keep warm with her wet head.
There you have it. Our final Buckner Elementary Buddy Bear Run to raise money for the PTA. It was fun to be there for this special 'final' in Bailey's life.
